So I'm building my father a Corsair for Christmas. He built this exact kit probably 30 odd years ago. It's still sitting on the shelf in their basement and still looks pretty good but I decided it was time for an upgrade. I went all out on this kit using a resin cockpit upgrade, resin wheel wells, resin lowered flaps, and a photo etched kit for many upgrades. Been about a month so far in construction and it's finally nearing paint stage. I'm building it as the "Big Hog" from VF-17 Jolly Rogers. This plane was involved in a famous altercation where he was shot by friendly fire while coming out of cloud cover during a battle. You can see the patches in the plane in the photo and where I tried to replicate this with some scrap PE metal on the model. This has been an ambitious project but it's turning out superb and should be museum worthy upon completion.
